The main attraction for tourists in Swanage is of course the beach, however the town has many other interesting features like the 280 acre Durlston Castle and Country Park which is one of the most popular Swanage tourist attractions.

The Country Park was established in the 1970s by Dorset County Council, and 30 years of careful management by the Ranger team have resulted in a superb site that everyone can enjoy.

Boat trips around the bay are very popular during summer when there are some fantastic views of the world famous coastline and Swanage bay. There are many walks in the surrounding countryside that really show off Dorset’s wonderful scenery. There are also many fine pubs and restaurants where you can find world class food and drink.

Swanage Steam Railway is another big tourist attraction that runs through Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck.

The 6 mile long railway line joins Swanage, Herston Halt, Harmans Cross and Corfe Castle. Trains run every weekend and Bank Holiday from mid-February through to the end of the year as well as seven days a week between April and October.

If you visit Swanage towards the end of July you will be in time to see the spectacular Swanage carnival which features firework displays, a street carnival and an aerobatic display by the world famous Red Arrows.

Nearby to Swanage the countryside is filled with quaint villages and rolling fields. Only a few miles away Corfe Castle is another popular tourist destination. You can get spectacular views of the Castle from Langton which is situated high up on the hills.

All in all Swanage and its surrounding villages make the perfect tourist destination.
